what are open ots ? |
why have open ots? |
Open OTs are specific events that are not organized solely by one specific committee within PSB- rather, the organizing committee [OT] is made out of PSLs from various committees. The Open OT events for 2015 are Little Initiative Day 2, Voices That Care 2, Mass PSL Session and the Singapore Kindness Movement. All PSLs will have the opportunity to be involved in at least one Open OT project.
|
Open OTs allow PSLs to have more opportunities to be involved in the board's work as a whole, rather than limiting their chances for board work to within the scope of their committee's work. Open OTs allow for the PSLs to have more exposure to different kinds of peer-supporting work without compromising the nature of each committee, and also allow for more inclusive work across PSB!

mapsMass PSL Session (MaPS) is a new initiative by PSB in recent years, and, as its name suggests, is a PSL session where all classes come together as an entire batch to learn something new. It is a larger platform for PSB to reach out to Year 1s in terms of character development, and is a platform for batch bonding for the Year Ones.
MaPS aims to reignite the Year Ones' interest in PSL sessions and enable them to find a greater meaning of PSL Sessions as a batch so as to apply skills learnt into their daily lives. MaPS is organized by the MaPS Open OT, and will be jointly mentored by the Special Projects Head, Anne Koh, and the Training and Development Head, Chelsea Li.

skmSKM, also known as the Singapore Kindness Movement, is a nation-wide initiative to spread kindness within Singapore's community. Every year, RGS PSB participates in "Friend of Singa", a programme for schools where students "complete a kindness project within their school communities over a period of six months to promote the essential values of kindness and graciousness." [quote taken from the SKM website]
SKM serves as an outreach project within the school to encourage our schoolmates to believe in and to practice kindness in their everyday lives. SKM is organized by the SKM Open OT, and will be mentored by the Special Projects Head, Anne Koh.
