WHAT HAPPENED IN APRIL 2015?

Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM)
Singapore Kindness Movement, SKM, is back in 2015 with the theme “A Nation of Kindness Starts With One!”
To kickstart SKM, PSB put balloons around the school as a form of publicity for the campaign! Each balloon had a quote or an act relating to kindness, as well as the hashtag #rgskm15. Through this initiative, we hoped to constantly remind and inspire the school community to be kind :)
PSL Session 6
Held on the 15th of April, the theme for PSL Session 6 was “Self-Love”. It was a very meaningful session, as the Y1s may feel stressed as their workload increases, leading to them possibly forgetting how to care about and appreciate themselves.
This PSL session’s objective was to let them let them realise that it is essential for the Year 1s to love themselves first, before being able to love others, as well as getting others to appreciate themselves.
Mass PSL Session (MaPS)
The theme for MaPS’15 was “Sisters At Heart”, in line with the Year 1 Orientation theme “One Heart One Voice”.
HEART stood for: HARMONY
EMPOWERING
APPRECIATION
REMEMBRANCE/ REFLECTION/ RECREATE
TOGETHERNESS
Students from different classes were placed into groups, to allow the Year 1 batch to know one another better, and be more unified. As an energizer, we started with an OBS Relay, which was an engaging activity that allowed the students to appreciate the importance of teamwork! Then, there was Heart Folding, in which each student folded a paper heart and wrote encouraging messages on them. The hearts were then collected then randomly distributed to other students. This was to spread positivity, and also acted as a take-away from this Mass PSL Session. After that, there was sharing of experiences in each group, followed by singing of batch songs and Rafflesian songs as a bonding experience.
VTC (Voices That Care) 1
VTC (Voices That Care) 1, kicked off on 20th April! Throughout the whole of Term 2 Week 5, there were themes and initiatives for every day to spread happiness throughout the school and let students de-stress, with many exams coming up soon.
A ball pit was set up in the centre of the canteen, and different activities were planned for each day of the week.
The theme for day 1 was “Be Bubbly!” The whole initiative for day one was aimed at relieving stress and relishing childhood memories, and revolved around bubbles. Bubbleland: pillars in the canteen were wrapped with bubble wrap and had signs that say ‘Pop me to relieve stress”. There was also a bubble blowing activity, where students could blow bubbles and enjoy themselves.
The theme for day 2 was “You can’t have a rainbow without a bit of rain!” The activities aimed to empower and encourage everyone to support each other through tough times. Firstly, mysterious wrapped up gifts were given out (knapsack of hope), with encouraging and positive messages behind each item in the bag. Helium balloons and polaroids were also sold to lift up everyone’s spirits just like a rainbow would!
The theme for day 3 was “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade out of it!” This dau aimed to help students destress and be more positive. PSLs conducted a lemon-squeezing activity and taught students how to make them into tiny air fresheners!
The theme for day 4 was “A day is more beautiful when you keep smiling”, to let the school share a day of laughter and relieve stress During recess, there was a list of dares written on a spinning wheel. The students could spin the wheel and can take part in those ‘dares’ as a group or an individual! Funny videos were also screened at the canteen.
The theme for the last day was "Stressed is desserts spelt backwards"! Bubble tea was sold on this day!
The proceeds from the sales of helium balloons, polaroids, and bubble tea were donated to O’Joy Elderly Care Centre to fund their programmes for the elderly! <3
